SUBJECT
Service Action: Program Control Units (DME)
SITUATION
A Check Control Message could intermittently be displayed indicating a Start/Stop Function failure.
Vehicle may not restart after stopping.
The following fault is stored in the DME:
- Fault 20BA20: clutch switch, signal: missing
In addition the BDC may have the following fault stored:
- Fault 804084: clutch switch, plausibility fault compared to CAN signal
This can occur if for example 14 gears changes are made, but the upper clutch position switch is only activated 10 times.
This difference could occur when the clutch pedal is not being fully released between gear shifts or by resting a foot on the pedal so the upper switch position is not recognized.
AFFECTED VEHICLES
This Service Action involves the F54, F55, and F56 vehicles with the B36M, B38M, B46M, and B48M engines produced from January 12, 2014 to December 19, 2015.
Vehicles which require this Service Action to be completed will show it as "Open" when checked either in AIR, the "Service Menu" of DCSnet (Dealer Communication System) or with the Key Reader.
CAUSE
DME software diagnostic error in monitoring the clutch position switch.
