Engine Performance: System: Turbocharger: Description
Turbocharger is mounted to exhaust manifold on right side of engine. Turbocharger components include turbine and compressor impellers, impeller shaft, bearings and impeller housings. Engine oil pressure provides constant lubrication to impeller.
Pressure actuated wastegate, located at front of compressor housing, prevents excessive intake boost pressure. An additional safety feature is provided by the fuel injection Electronic Control Unit (ECU). The ECU will modify fuel injection pulse width when it senses intake manifold pressures that are higher than normal.
