Fuel Pressure

  1. Disconnect fuel pump harness connector located under rear seat or luggage compartment. Start engine. When engine stops by itself, turn ignition switch to "OFF" position. Disconnect negative battery cable and reconnect fuel pump harness connector.
  2. Cover high pressure hose from injecton mixer with rags and disconnect. Install a fuel pressure gauge on Adapter (MD998700) and attach between injection mixer and high pressure hose. See Fig 1 . Attach adapter to injection mixer with 2 screws supplied with adapter kit.

  3. Reconnect negative battery cable. Apply battery voltage to fuel pump terminal. Ensure fuel pressure gauge and adapter connection are not leaking. Measure fuel pressure when engine is at idle. Standard fuel pressure is 35-38 psi (2.4-2.6 Kg/cm2 ).
  4. If fuel pressure is lower than specification, problem could be clogged fuel strainer, defective pressure regulator or fuel pump. If fuel pressure is higher than specification, problem could be faulty pressure regulator or clogged fuel return hose.
  5. Stop engine and ensure fuel pressure does not drop. If fuel pressure drops slowly after engine is stopped, problem could be faulty injector. If fuel pressure drops immediately after engine is stopped, problem could be faulty fuel pump or pressure regulator.
