Components Inspection Procedure Using Multi-Use Tester

NOTE: Normal inputs and outputs can be found in INSPECTION USING MULTI-USE TESTER under appropriate test procedure.
  1. Turn ignition off.
  2. Connect power source terminal of multi-use tester to cigarette lighter socket.
  3. Connect multi-use tester to diagnosis connector. See Figure .
  4. Turn ignition on.
  5. Select vehicle model and system.
    • Select by pressing YES key.
  6. Select function, and then check input and output signals of the engine control unit. If there is an abnormal condition, check the body harness, the component itself, etc., and repair as necessary.
    • Function Select Menu:
      1. Self-Diagnosis Code
      2. Data List
      3. Actuator Test
      4. Special Test
    • After checking, press CLEAR key.
  7. After performing repair, use multi-use tester to recheck, and confirm that the abnormal condition of the input and output signals has been corrected.
  8. Using multi-use tester, erase malfunction code from memory. See CLEARING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES  .
  9. Turn ignition off.
  10. Disconnect multi-use tester.
  11. Start engine, and perform a road test to confirm that malfunction has been corrected.
