Relieving Fuel Pressure

  1. On Eclipse and Galant, remove fuel pump relay. On all vehicles except Eclipse and Galant, remove fuel pump relay or disconnect fuel pump wiring harness connector. For fuel pump relay location, see FUEL PUMP RELAY LOCATION  table. On Montero Sport, locate fuel pump wiring harness at fuel tank. On Montero, remove cargo compartment carpet and floor cover to access fuel pump wiring harness connector. On Diamante and Mirage, remove rear seat cushion and lift carpet, or remove floor plate, to access fuel pump wiring harness connector.
  2. Start engine. Let engine run until it stops. Turn ignition off. Disconnect negative battery cable. Install fuel pump relay, or reconnect fuel pump harness connector.

Eclipse (2) Left Side Engine Compartment
Galant (2) Left Side Engine Compartment
Mirage (3) Behind Left Center Of Instrument Panel
Montero (4) Behind Right Side Of Instrument Panel
Montero Sport (5) Right Side Kick Panel
