Using Scan Tool

  1. Refer to scan tool manufacturer's operation manual for instructions. Before entering on-board diagnostics, see SERVICE PRECAUTIONS  . Locate Data Link Connector (DLC) under instrument panel, near steering column.
  2. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Connect scan tool to DLC. Turn ignition on. Read and record scan tool self-diagnostic output. Proceed to DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE DEFINITIONS  . If scan tool will not communicate with ECM/PCM, diagnose communication concern. See SCAN TOOL WILL NOT COMMUNICATE  . Turn ignition switch to LOCK position before disconnecting scan tool.
