SERVICE INFORMATION
RADIO CHANNEL/SPEAKER TESTING - All models exc. Raider . If you have a complaint of distortion or inadequate sound from a speaker, you can isolate that circuit using a self check within the radio. It's commonly referred to as the "Bob test," due to the appearance of the display resembling the word BoB.
The test mode outputs a test tone through each speaker including the center channel or sub-woofer. To conduct the test, follow these instructions:
- Adjust the volume to a 'normal' level and turn the radio off, but leave the key on.
- Press memory button "1."
- Press the seek down button, then the seek up button.
- Press the memory button "6."
A tone is now heard coming from the LF speaker. To change channels, press the memory "6" button. The channels will change in a clockwise direction, leaving the center channel for last. This method works on most Mitsubishi models going back into the mid 1990s. For the 2007 and later Outlander and the 2008 Lancer without MMCS, use the seek down and up buttons with the fast rewind button, then the fast forward button. For vehicles equipped with MMCS (Navi), with the NAVI system active;
- Press and hold both the "NAVI" and "SET" buttons for 3.5 seconds.
- When the Service Screen appears, select "Speaker Check."
- Select the speaker to be tested. Repeat until the affected speaker circuit is identified.
- Press "Back" to exit.
