Service Engine Soon/Mil

MIL may also be referred to as SERVICE ENGINE SOON light. If all systems are normal, immediately after the ignition switch is turned to ON position, SERVICE ENGINE SOON/MIL will illuminate for 5 seconds, then go out, as a circuit and bulb check. When PCM determines an emissions related malfunction exists, PCM will turn the SERVICE ENGINE SOON/MIL on. If PCM determines that the malfunction no longer exists, it will turn the SERVICE ENGINE SOON/MIL off.

If SERVICE ENGINE SOON/MIL will not come on for circuit and bulb check or SERVICE ENGINE SOON/MIL stays on with no DTCs present, diagnose SERVICE ENGINE SOON/MIL circuit malfunction. See MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LIGHT DIAGNOSIS  .
