SERVICE INFORMATION

ECM REPROGRAMMING FOR DRIVABILITY ISSUES - All Models With Reprogramming Capability  . If a vehicle arrives at your dealership with a drivability or other concern that could be related to engine management, make sure that the ECM is programmed with the latest version of software. Reprogramming is normally conducted as part of a TSB that addresses a specific condition or DTC, but the vehicle may not react that way. Circumstances can exist where the condition presents itself in other ways not described in a TSB.

To begin diagnosis, confirm that the ECM is programmed with the latest software. Select Special Function  , then ECU Reprogramming  . Click the appropriate button for your vehicle (K-Line or CAN). Follow the steps to begin reprogramming. If your MEDIC-II (version 5.0 & latest download) or MUT-III is up to date, and the vehicle's ECM is to the latest version of software, the scan tool will display a window advising "Complete Reprogramming." This indicates that the ECM's software is to the latest level. If the reprogramming procedure continues to completion, you will have brought the ECM to the latest version of software level.
