Accelerator Cable Check And Adjustment
- Turn off air conditioning and all lights. Inspect and adjust at no load.
- Start engine and allow to idle unit it reaches normal operating temperature.
- Confirm the idle speed is at standard value.
Standard value:
700 +/- 100 r/min < 2.0L engine >
750 +/- 100 r/min < 2.4L engine >
- Stop the engine [ignition switch: "LOCK" (OFF) position].
- Confirm there are no sharp bends in the accelerator cable.
- Check the inner cable for correct slack.
Standard value: 1.0 - 2.0 mm (0.04 - 0.08 inch)
- If there is too much slack or no slack, adjust play by the following procedures. < 2.0L engine >
- Loosen the adjusting bolt to release the cable.
- Move the plate until the inner cable play is at the standard value, and then tighten the adjusting bolt to specified torque.
Tightening torque: 5.0 +/- 1.0 N.m (44 +/- 9 in-lb)
- If there is too much slack or no slack, adjust play by the following procedures. < 2.4L engine >
- Loosen the look nut and fully close the throttle lever.
- Tighten the adjusting nut until just before the throttle lever starts to move.
- By loosening the adjusting nut one turn, the accelerator cable slack will be brought to the standard value.
- Fix the adjusting nut with the look nut.
- After adjusting, check that the throttle lever is touching the stopper.
