Power Transistor: 300ZX
- Disconnect power transistor connector. Connect ohmmeter positive lead to terminal "g" and negative lead to terminals "a", "b", "c", "d", "e" and "f" of power transistor connector. See Fig 1
-Fig 3
. If there is continuity, replace power transistor.
- If there is no continuity, reverse ohmmeter test lead polarity and check continuity between terminals listed in previous step. If there is no continuity, replace power transistor. If there is continuity, check continuity between terminal "g" and terminals No. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 (check with polarity in one direction, and then with polarity in opposite direction).
- There should be continuity regardless of ohmmeter test lead polarity. If there is no continuity, replace power transistor. If there is continuity, check continuity between the following terminals, noting ohmmeter test lead polarity:
- "a" (+) and No. 1 (-).
- "b" (+) and No. 2 (-).
- "c" (+) and No. 3 (-).
- "d" (+) and No. 4 (-).
- "e" (+) and No. 5 (-).
- "f" (+) and No. 6 (-).
- If there is no continuity, replace power transistor. If there is continuity, reverse ohmmeter test lead polarity and check continuity between terminals listed in previous step. If there is continuity, replace power transistor. If there is no continuity, power transistor is okay.
