Throttle Position (TP) Sensor

  1. Faults in TP sensor circuit may set DTC 43 (P0120). To test system, see DTC 43 (P0120) diagnostic procedures in the TESTS W/CODES article.
  2. To test TP sensor, disconnect TP sensor connector. TP sensor is mounted on side of throttle body. While opening and closing throttle, check resistance across specified wire terminals of TP sensor connector. See THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR RESISTANCE TEST table.
  3. If resistance is not as specified, check harness. If harness is okay, adjust TP sensor. See the ADJUSTMENTS article. If resistance is still not as specified after adjustment, replace TP sensor.
