Anti-Lock Brake System: Description
CAUTION:
When battery or ECM is disconnected, vehicle computer and memory systems may lose data. Driveability problems may exist until adaptation systems have completed a relearn cycle. See COMPUTER RELEARN PROCEDURES
before disconnecting battery.
The Anti-Lock Brake System consists of electronic and hydraulic components. It allows for control of braking force so that locking of the wheels can be avoided. The system detects wheel rotation rate and electronically controls fluid pressure applied to brakes.
NOTE:
For more information on brake system, see DISC & DRUM
.
The Anti-Lock Brake System:
- Ensures proper tracking performance through steering wheel operation.
- Enables obstacles to be avoided through steering wheel operation.
- Ensures vehicle stability by preventing flat spins.
