Operation Procedure
- Perform ACCELERATOR PEDAL RELEASED POSITION LEARNING PROCEDURE .
- Perform THROTTLE VALVE CLOSED POSITION LEARNING PROCEDURE .
- Turn ignition off and wait 10 seconds.
- Ensure accelerator pedal is fully released. Turn ignition on and wait 3 seconds.
- Repeat the following procedure 5 times within 5 seconds:
- Fully depress accelerator pedal.
- Fully release accelerator pedal.
- Wait 7 seconds, fully depress and hold accelerator pedal for approximately 20 seconds until MIL changes from blinking to ON.
- Fully release accelerator pedal within 3 seconds after MIL goes OFF.
- Start engine and allow to idle. Wait 20 seconds.
- Rev engine several times and make sure idle speed and ignition timing are within specification. See IDLE SPEED & IGNITION TIMING SPECIFICATIONS .IDLE SPEED & IGNITION TIMING SPECIFICATIONS
Item Specification Idle Speed A/T (1) 650-750 RPM M/T 650-750 RPM Ignition Timing A/T (1) 10-20° BTDC M/T 10-20° BTDC (1) A/T in "P" or "N". - If the engine stalls, idle is erratic or if idle speed and ignition timing are not within specification, the result of this procedure will be incomplete. In any case, check for the following possible causes and repair as necessary. Perform following procedure again:
- Ensure throttle valve is fully closed.
- Check PCV valve operation.
- Check for intake air leaks downstream of throttle valve.
