EVAP System Leak Test
CAUTION:
DO NOT apply more than 0.6 psi (0.04 kg/cm2
) of pressure to EVAP system. DO NOT use compressed air.
NOTE:
DO NOT start engine during testing procedure.
- Using CONSULT-II
Attach EVAP service port adapter securely to EVAP service port. Attach pressure pump and hose. Turn ignition on. Using CONSULT-II in WORK SUPPORT MODE select EVAP SYSTEM CLOSE. Touch START. A bar graph should appear, using pressure pump apply pressure until pressure indicator reaches middle of graph. Remove EVAP service port adapter along with pump. Locate leak using Leak Detector (J41416). - Without CONSULT-II
Connect suitable pressure pump with gauge to EVAP service port. See VACUUM DIAGRAMS article for location. Using jumper wires, apply battery voltage to EVAP Canister Vent Control Valve (EVAP-CVCV) and vacuum cut valve by-pass valve. See Fig 1-Fig 8 . Apply 0.2-0.4 psi (0.01-0.03 kg/cm2 ) of pressure to EVAP service port. Remove pressure pump from EVAP service port. Using Leak Detector (J41416), locate EVAP system leak.
