Display Communication Line Check (Between Display Control Unit and Display)

  1. CHECK HARNESS 
    1. Turn ignition switch OFF.
    2. Disconnect display connector and display control unit connector.
    3. Check continuity between display control unit and Display.
      DISPLAY COMMUNICATION LINE HARNESS CHECK CHART (1 OF 2)

      Terminals Continuity
      Display control unit (+) Display (-)
      Connector Terminal (Wire color) Connector Terminal (Wire color)
      M43 36 (O/L) M38 11 (O/L) Yes
      38 (W/L) 22 (W/L)
    4. Check continuity between display control unit and ground.

    Display control unit (+) (-)
    Connector Terminal (Wire color)
    M43 36 (O/L) Ground No
    38 (W/L)

    OK or NG

    1. OK : GO TO 2.
    2. NG : Repair harness or connector.
  2. CHECK1: COMMUNICATION SIGNAL (DCU-DSP) 
    1. Connect display control unit connector.
    2. Turn ignition switch ON.
    3. Check voltage between display control unit harness connector M43 terminal 36 (O/L) and ground.
      1. Approx. 3.5 V or more 

    OK or NG

    1. OK : GO TO 3.
    2. NG : Replace display control unit.

  3. CHECK2: COMMUNICATION SIGNAL (DSP-DCU) 
    1. Connect display connector.
    2. Turn ignition switch ON.
    3. Check voltage between display control unit harness connector M43 terminal 38 (W/L) and ground.
      1. Approx. 3.5 V or more 

    OK or NG

    1. OK : GO TO 4.
    2. NG : Replace display unit.

  4. CHECK3: COMMUNICATION SIGNAL (DCU-DSP) 
    1. Turn ignition switch ON.
    2. Check signal between display control unit harness connector M43 terminal 36 (O/L) and ground with CONSULT-II or oscilloscope.
      1. 36 (O/L) - Ground : Refer to " TERMINALS AND REFERENCE VALUE FOR DISPLAY CONTROL UNIT   ".

    OK or NG

    1. OK : GO TO 5.
    2. NG : Replace display.
  5. CHECK4: COMMUNICATION SIGNAL (DSP-DCU) 
    1. Turn ignition switch ON.
    2. Check signal between display control unit harness connector M43 terminal 38 (W/L) and ground with CONSULT-II or oscilloscope.
      1. 38 (W/L) - Ground : Refer to " TERMINALS AND REFERENCE VALUE FOR DISPLAY CONTROL UNIT   ."  

    OK or NG

    1. OK : Replace display.
    2. NG : Replace display control unit.
