DTC B1493, Generator "F" Terminal High
- If BFC diagnostic system check was performed, go to next step. If BFC diagnostic system check was not performed, go to BFC DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK .
- Turn ignition switch to RUN position, with engine off. Disconnect generator connector. Using scan tool, read generator field duty cycle. If duty cycle reading is zero percent, go to next step. If duty cycle reading is not zero percent, go to step 7).
- Check for poor connections at generator connector. If a poor connection exists, go to next step. If connections are okay, go to step 5).
- Repair poor connection at generator connector. Go to step 11).
- Reconnect generator connector. Start engine. Using scan tool, read generator field duty cycle. If scan tool display is HIGH, go to next step. If scan tool display is not HIGH, go to step 11).
- Replace generator. See GENERATOR & REGULATOR article in ELECTRICAL section. Go to next step.
- Disconnect PCM connector. Using DVOM, check voltage at generator terminal "C" (Gray wire). If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, go to step 9).
- Repair short to battery in Gray wire between generator and PCM connector C1 (2.4L) or connector C2 (3.1L). Go to step 11).
- Reconnect PCM connector. Start engine. Using scan tool, read generator field duty cycle. If scan tool display is HIGH, go to next step. If scan tool display is not HIGH, go to step 11).
- Replace PCM. See I - SYSTEMS & COMPONENTS article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE section. Go to next step.
- Clear DTCs. Perform BFC DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK .
