PRNDL Display Malfunctioning With No Loss Of Serial Data

Using scan tool, monitor PCM. If GEAR POSITION matches PRNDL display, go to appropriate TESTS W/O CODES article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE section. If GEAR POSITION does not match PRNDL display, go to next step.
Using scan tool, monitor BFC SPI serial data link. If BFC command does not match GEAR POSITION from PCM, replace BFC. See REMOVAL & INSTALLATION . If PRNDL display on instrument cluster does not match GEAR POSITION, replace instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT PANEL article.
