Left Seat Does Not Manually Move In One Direction

  1. If diagnostic system check was performed, go to next step. If diagnostic system check was not performed, go to DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  .
  2. Turn ignition off. Ground memory seat diagnostic connector. Memory seat/memory mirror control module will chime once to indicate Mode 1 has been entered. Operate driver's seat switch in all directions. Memory seat/memory mirror control module should chime once at each switch input. If any switch input does not cause a chime to sound, go to next step. If all switch inputs cause a chime to sound, go to step 4).
  3. Remove ground from memory seat diagnostic connector. After 5 seconds, 3 chimes will sound to indicate that diagnostic mode has been exited. Disconnect left seat switch. With suspect switch pressed, use DVOM to check voltage between ground and appropriate left seat switch harness connector terminal. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . If reading is about 12 volts, go to next step. If reading is not about 12 volts, go to step 6).
  4. Check for open or short to ground in appropriate wire between inoperative seat motor and memory seat/memory mirror control module. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . If circuit is okay, go to next step. If circuit is not okay, go to step 9).
  5. Replace suspect motor. See appropriate POWER SEATS article. Perform DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  .
  6. Check for open in appropriate wire between left seat switch and memory seat/memory mirror control module Blue 32-pin connector C2. See IDENTIFYING LEFT SEAT SWITCH CIRCUITS  . If circuit is okay, go to next step. If circuit is not okay, go to step 9).

    Entire Seat Back Light Green
    Rear Height Up Yellow
    Rear Height Down Light Blue
    Front Height Up Dark Green
    Front Height Down Dark Blue
    Recline Up Light Green
    Recline Down Light Blue
  7. Replace left seat switch. Perform DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  .
  8. Replace memory seat/memory mirror control module. Perform DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  .
  9. Repair open or short to ground in appropriate wire. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Perform DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK.
