DTC U2002: Transmitted SPI Data Input Low: Testing

  1. If BFC diagnostic system check was performed, go to next step. If BFC diagnostic system check was not performed, see procedures in BFC DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  .
  2. Disconnect instrument cluster Gray 24-pin connector. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Using DVOM, check voltage between instrument cluster harness connector terminal A2 (Light Blue/Black wire) and ground. If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, go to step 7).
  3. Using scan tool, check SPI data input. If SPI data input is HIGH, go to next step. If SPI data input is not HIGH, go to step 11).
  4. Check for a poor connection at instrument cluster harness connector terminal A2 (Light Blue/Black wire). If a poor connection exists, go to next step. If connection is okay, go to step 6).
  5. Repair poor connection at instrument cluster harness connector terminal A2 (Light Blue/Black wire). Go to step 14).
  6. Replace instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT PANEL article. Go to step 14).
  7. Disconnect BFC Gray 24-pin connector C2. Using DVOM, check resistance between BFC harness connector C2, terminal B7 (Light Blue/Black wire) and instrument cluster harness connector terminal A2 (Light Blue/Black wire). If resistance is 0-2 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is not 0-2 ohms, go to step 9).
  8. Check resistance between BFC harness connector C2, terminal B7 (Light Blue/Black wire) and ground. If resistance is not infinite, go to step 11). If resistance is infinite, go to step 10).
  9. Repair open in Light Blue/Black wire between BFC connector C2 and instrument cluster. Go to step 14).
  10. Repair short to ground in Light Blue/Black wire between BFC connector C2 and instrument cluster. Go to step 14).
  11. Check for a poor connection at BFC connector C2, terminal B7 (Light Blue/Black wire). If a poor connection exists, go to next step. If connection is okay, go to step 13).
  12. Repair poor connection at BFC connector C2, terminal B7 (Light Blue/Black wire). Go to step 14).
  13. Replace BFC. See REMOVAL & INSTALLATION  . Go to next step.
  14. Clear DTCs. Perform BFC DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  .
