Instrument Cluster Indicator(S) Will Not Turn Off: Testing

  1. If BFC diagnostic system check was performed, go to next step. If BFC diagnostic system check was not performed, see procedures in BFC DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  .
  2. Using scan tool, monitor input data from class 2 serial data component or other BFC inputs for indicator that is illuminated. If class 2 component is commanding indicator ON, locate and repair problem in that component. If class 2 component is not commanding indicator ON, go to next step.
  3. Using scan tool, determine if BFC is commanding indicator(s) ON. If scan tool cannot toggle (or WOW) instrument cluster using BFC, go to next step. If scan tool can toggle (or WOW) instrument cluster using BFC, go to step 5).
  4. Replace BFC. See REMOVAL & INSTALLATION  .
  5. Replace instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT PANEL article.
