Instrument Cluster Indicator(S) Will Not Turn On: Testing

  1. If BFC diagnostic system check was performed, go to next step. If BFC diagnostic system check was not performed, see procedures in BFC DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  .
  2. Using scan tool, monitor input data from class 2 serial data component for indicator that will not illuminate. If class 2 component is commanding indicator OFF, locate and repair problem in that component. If class 2 component is not commanding indicator OFF, go to next step.
  3. Using scan tool, command BFC to WOW instrument cluster to turn indicator(s) ON. If scan tool cannot toggle (or WOW) instrument cluster using BFC, go to next step. If scan tool can toggle (or WOW) instrument cluster using BFC, go to step 5).
  4. Replace BFC. See REMOVAL & INSTALLATION  .
  5. Replace instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT PANEL article.
