Check Oil Indicator Lights Continuously With No Loss Of Serial Data

  1. Using scan tool, monitor PCM. If PCM is commanding CHECK OIL indicator ON, go to appropriate TESTS W/CODES article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE section:

    If PCM is commanding CHECK OIL indicator OFF, go to next step.

  2. Using scan tool, monitor BFC SPI serial data link. If BFC is commanding CHECK OIL indicator ON, replace BFC. See procedures in REMOVAL & INSTALLATION  . If BFC is commanding CHECK OIL indicator OFF and indicator is illuminated, replace instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT PANEL article.
