New BCM Setup

NOTE: Following procedure is written specifically for GM's Tech 2 scan tool. A generic scan tool may not be capable of performing all necessary reprogramming functions.
NOTE: After programming new BCM, go to THEFT DETERRENT RELEARN  .
  1. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). Input all required vehicle data. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. When MAIN MENU is displayed, select SPECIAL FUNCTIONS. Select SETUP NEW BCM. Select SETUP BCM.
    CAUTION: If wrong VIN information is entered during next step, BCM may need to be replaced, as scan tool is not capable of removing BCM from secured mode.
  2. When prompted by scan tool, enter correct VIN information. After VIN 5th digit inquiry, scan tool will display NOW SETTING UP THE NEW BODY CONTROL MODULE for a few seconds, then display BODY CONTROL MODULE SETUP IS COMPLETE. If scan tool indicates that setup cannot be completed, specialized General Motors equipment is necessary.
  3. Check for DTCs. Erase DTCs. Press EXIT repeatedly until scan tool displays APPLICATION MENU. Disconnect scan tool. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Go to THEFT DETERRENT RELEARN  .
