Theft Deterrent Relearn

NOTE: If theft deterrent relearn procedure is not performed when BCM is replaced, vehicle may not be protected anti-theft system or engine will not crank or start.
NOTE: Ensure battery is fully charged before performing this procedure. Programming theft deterrent relearn will take about 30 minutes.
  1. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL) should illuminate for about 10 minutes, then turn off. When MIL turns off, turn ignition off for 5 seconds.
  2. Repeat previous step 2 or more times, for a total of 3 10-minute ignition cycles. Turn ignition off.
  3. Start engine. Vehicle should now start and MIL should be off. Recharge battery as necessary.
