Diagnostic Procedures

  1. If BCM diagnostic system check was performed, go to next step. If BCM diagnostic system check was not performed, see procedures in BCM DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  .
  2. Turn ignition off. Disconnect BCM harness connector C1. Turn ignition switch to ACC position. Using a test light connected to ground, backprobe BCM harness connector terminal C3 (Purple wire). See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . If test light illuminates, go to next step. If test light does not illuminate, go to step 4).
  3. Repair short to battery voltage in Purple wire. After repairs, go to step 15).
  4. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Leave test light connected as specified in step 2). If test light illuminates, go to next step. If test light does not illuminate, go to step 6).
  5. Turn ignition off. Connect test light between ground and BCM harness connector C1, terminal C13 (Purple wire). If test light illuminates, go to step 7). If test light does not illuminate, go to step 8).
  6. Repair poor connection or open in circuit between BCM harness connector terminal C3 (Purple wire) and fuse block. After repairs, go to step 15).
  7. Repair short to battery voltage in Purple wire. After repairs, go to step 15).
  8. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. With test light still connected between ground and BCM harness connector terminal C13, check test light. If test light illuminates, go to next step. If test light does not illuminate, go to step 10).
  9. Turn ignition off. Connect test light between ground and BCM harness connector terminal C12 (Pink wire). If test light illuminates, go to step 11). If test light does not illuminate, go to step 12).
  10. Repair poor connection or open in circuit between BCM harness connector terminal C13 (Purple wire) and fuse block. After repairs, go to step 15).
  11. Repair short to battery voltage in circuit between BCM harness connector terminal C12 (Pink wire) and fuse block. After repairs, go to step 15).
  12. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. With test light still connected between BCM harness connector terminal C12 (Pink wire) and ground, observe test light. If test light illuminates, go to next step. If test light does not illuminate, go to step 14).
  13. Replace BCM. Perform new BCM setup. See BCM PROGRAMMING  . After programming BCM, go to step 15).
  14. Repair poor connection or open in circuit between fuse block and BCM harness connector terminal C12 (Pink wire). After repairs, go to next step.
  15. Turn ignition off. Reinstall all components and connectors. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Using scan tool, clear DTCs. Check for DTCs. If any DTCs are current, perform procedures in BCM DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  . If no DTCs are current, system is operating properly.
