Diagnostic Procedures

  1. Turn ignition off. Using DVOM connected to ground, backprobe DLC terminal No. 16 (Orange wire). See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . If voltage reading is 9-14 volts, go to next step. If voltage reading is not 9-14 volts, go to step 8).
  2. Using DVOM, check voltage between battery positive and DLC terminal No. 5 (Black wire). If voltage reading is 9-14 volts, go to next step. If battery voltage is not 9-14 volts, go to step 9).
  3. Check voltage between battery positive and DLC terminal No. 4 (Black wire). If voltage reading is 9-14 volts, go to next step. If voltage reading is not 9-14 volts, go to step 10).
  4. Disconnect bus bar from splice pack SP205 (located on right side of steering column, taped to harness). Check continuity between DLC terminal No. 2 (Purple wire) and splice pack SP205 terminal "A" (Purple wire). If continuity is present, go to next step. If continuity is not present, go to step 6).
  5. Connect scan tool to DLC. Reconnect bus bar splice pack SP205. Using scan tool, attempt to establish communication to modules on splice pack SP205. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . If communication can be established, go to step 7). If communication cannot be established, go to step 17).
  6. Repair poor connection or open in circuit between DLC terminal No. 2 and splice pack SP205. After repairs, recheck system operation.
  7. Check for BCM related DTCs. If BCM related DTCs are present, diagnose using appropriate BCM DTC diagnostic test procedures. If BCM related DTCs are not present, system is okay.
  8. Check RADIO-HVAC fuse located in instrument panel fuse block. If fuse is okay, go to step 11). If fuse is open, go to step 12).
  9. Check and ensure ground connection to DLC terminal No. 5 (Black wire) is clean and tight. If connection is good, go to step 13). If connection is faulty, go to step 14).
  10. Check and ensure ground connection to DLC terminal No. 4 (Black wire) is clean and tight. If connection is good, go to step 15). If connection is faulty, go to step 16).
  11. Repair poor connection or open in circuit between DLC terminal No. 16 (Orange wire) to fuse block. After repairs, recheck system operation.
  12. Replace RADIO-HVAC fuse. After replacing fuse, recheck system operation.
  13. Repair poor connection or open in circuit between DLC terminal No. 5 (Black wire) and ground connector. After repairs, recheck system operation.
  14. Repair poor ground connection to DLC terminal No. 5 (Black wire). After repairs, recheck system operation.
  15. Repair poor connection or open in circuit between DLC terminal No. 4 (Black wire) and ground connector. After repairs, recheck system operation.
  16. Repair poor ground connection to DLC terminal No. 4 (Black wire). After repairs, recheck system operation.
  17. Replace splice pack SP205. After replacing splice pack, recheck system operation.
