Left Seat Does Not Manually Move In One Direction

NOTE: After repair or component replacement is completed, perform MEMORY SYSTEM CHECK  under TROUBLE SHOOTING to verify system is functioning properly.
  1. Perform MEMORY SYSTEM CHECK  under TROUBLE SHOOTING. Go to next step.
  2. Turn ignition off. Ground memory seat diagnostic connector. Memory seat/mirror module will chime once to indicate Mode 1 has been entered. Operate driver's seat switch in all directions. Memory seat/mirror module should chime once at each switch input. If any switch input does not cause a chime to sound, go to next step. If all switch inputs cause a chime to sound, go to step 4).
  3. Remove ground from memory seat diagnostic connector. After 5 seconds, 3 chimes will sound to indicate that diagnostic mode has been exited. Disconnect memory seat/mirror module. With suspect switch pressed, use DVOM to check voltage between ground and appropriate memory seat/mirror module harness connector terminal. See IDENTIFYING LEFT SEAT SWITCH CIRCUITS  table. If 10-15 volts exists, go to next step. If 10-15 volts does not exist, go to step 6).
  4. Check for open or short to ground in appropriate wire between inoperative seat motor and memory seat/mirror module. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . If circuit is okay, go to next step. If circuit is not okay, go to step 9).
  5. Replace suspect motor. See SEATS - POWER article.
  6. Check for an open circuit in appropriate wire between left seat switch and memory seat/mirror module 32-pin connector C2 (Blue). See IDENTIFYING LEFT SEAT SWITCH CIRCUITS  table. If circuit is okay, go to next step. If circuit is not okay, go to step 9).
