Memory Recall Functions Inoperative

NOTE: After repair or component replacement is completed, perform MEMORY SYSTEM CHECK  under TROUBLE SHOOTING to verify system is functioning properly.
  1. Perform MEMORY SYSTEM CHECK  under TROUBLE SHOOTING. Go to next step.
  2. Ensure outside mirror control switch is in left, right or off positions. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Connect fused jumper (20-amp) between ground and memory seat diagnostic connector. Memory seat/mirror module will chime once to indicate Mode 1 has been entered. Operate DRIVER-1, DRIVER-2 and MEMORY SET buttons. Memory seat/mirror module should chime once at each switch input. If any switch input does not cause a chime to sound, go to step 6). If all switch inputs cause a chime to sound, go to next step.
  3. Remove ground from memory seat diagnostic connector, and within 5 seconds, ground memory seat diagnostic connector again. Module will chime 2 times to indicate Mode 2 has been entered. Operate seat and mirrors in all directions. Module will chime once at each open, shorted or faulty position sensor or circuit. If any switch input causes a chime to sound, go to next step. If no switch inputs cause a chime to sound, go to step 9).
  4. Check for open or short in Gray wire between appropriate position sensor and memory seat/mirror module. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . If circuit is okay, go to next step. If circuit is not okay, go to step 8).
  5. Check for open or short in Black wire between appropriate position sensor and memory seat/mirror module. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . If circuit is okay, go to step 9). If circuit is not okay, go to step 8).
  6. Check for open in White wire (DRIVER-1), Purple wire (DRIVER-2) or Orange wire (Memory Set) between left seat switch and memory seat/mirror module 32-pin connector C2 (Blue). If circuit is okay, go to next step. If circuit is not okay, go to step 8).
  7. Replace left seat switch.
  8. Repair open or short in appropriate wire. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  .
  9. System is functioning properly. Perform MEMORY SYSTEM CHECK  under TROUBLE SHOOTING. If symptom still exists, replace memory seat/mirror module.
