One Position Does Not Set Or Recall

NOTE: After repair or component replacement is completed, perform MEMORY SYSTEM CHECK  under TROUBLE SHOOTING to verify system is functioning properly.
  1. Perform MEMORY SYSTEM CHECK  under TROUBLE SHOOTING. Go to next step.
  2. Turn ignition off. Ground memory seat diagnostic connector. Memory seat/mirror module will chime once to indicate Mode 1 has been entered. Remove ground from memory seat diagnostic connector, and within 5 seconds, ground memory seat diagnostic connector again. Module will chime 2 times to indicate Mode 2 has been entered. Operate seat and mirrors in all directions. Module will chime once at each open, shorted or faulty position sensor or circuit. If any switch input causes a chime to sound, go to next step. If any switch inputs do not cause a chime to sound, go to step 8).
  3. Check for open or short in appropriate wire between memory seat/mirror module and position sensors. See IDENTIFYING POSITION SENSOR CIRCUITS  table. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . If circuit is okay, go to next step. If circuit is not okay, go to step 7).
    IDENTIFYING POSITION SENSOR CIRCUITS

    Application Wire Color
    Seat Rear Height Tan
    Seat Front Height Brown/White
    Seat Forward/Back Dark Green
    Seat Recline White/Black
    Left Mirror Left/Right Gray
    Left Mirror Up/Down Dark Green
    Right Mirror Left/Right Light Blue/Black
    Right Mirror Up/Down Brown
  4. Check for open in Gray wire between appropriate seat position sensor and splice S341, or between mirror position sensor and splice S315. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . If circuit is okay, go to next step. If circuit is not okay, go to step 7).
  5. Check for open in Black wire between appropriate seat position sensor and splice S340, or between mirror position sensor and splice S298. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . If circuit is okay, go to next step. If circuit is not okay, go to step 7).
  6. Replace inoperative position sensor.
  7. Repair open in appropriate wire. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  .
  8. System is functioning properly. Perform MEMORY SYSTEM CHECK  under TROUBLE SHOOTING. If symptom still exists, replace memory seat/mirror module.
