Charge Indicator Light Never On

  1. Perform charging system check. See CHARGING SYSTEM TEST  . Go to next step.
  2. Using scan tool, check for DTCs. If no DTCs exist, go to next step. If DTCs exist, diagnose and repair DTCs first.
  3. Using scan tool, perform indicator bulb check. Follow manufacturer's instructions. If all indicators operate properly, go to next step. If any indicators do not operate properly, diagnose indicator problem. See appropriate wiring diagram in appropriate INSTRUMENT PANELS article in ACCESSORIES & EQUIPMENT.
  4. Using DVOM, check voltage at battery stud on generator. If 9-16 volts exist, go to next step. If 9-16 volts do not exist, go to step  6 .
  5. Replace generator. See GENERATOR  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Recheck system.
  6. Repair open in Red wire. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Recheck system.
