DTC U1000: Class 2 Serial Data Link Malfunction: Testing

  1. Check for poor terminal contact or open along class 2 communication circuit for module that set DTC U1000. If faulty circuit was found, go to next step. If circuit is okay, go to step  3 .
  2. Repair poor terminal contact or open in class 2 communication circuit for module that set DTC U1000. After repairs, go to step  6 .
  3. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). Using scan tool, clear DTCs. Turn ignition switch to LOCK then RUN position. Using scan tool, recheck for DTCs. If DTC U1000 resets as current, go to next step. If DTC U1000 does not reset as current, go to step  5 .
  4. Replace module that set DTC U1000. Go to appropriate removal and installation procedure for appropriate system. After repairs, go to step  6 .
  5. Malfunction is not present at this time. Go to DIAGNOSTIC AIDS  . After repairs, go to next step.
  6. Connect all disconnected components and connectors. After repairs, go to under SYSTEM TESTS.
