Diagnostic Procedures
- Perform I/M system check. See INSPECTION/MAINTENANCE SYSTEM CHECK . After performing I/M system check, go to next step.

- Accelerate vehicle at part throttle to 45 MPH and maintain speed for one minute.
- Decelerate 4 times for 25 seconds after accelerating from 45 MPH. Ensure throttle is closed, brakes are not applied, no clutch actuation on M/T and no manual downshift. When decelerating, ensure speed does not drop to less than 25 MPH and returned to 45 MPH under part throttle acceleration and speed is maintained for 15 seconds.
- Using scan tool, observe DTC Information. If DTCs are set, diagnose affected DTCs. See DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE DEFINITIONS . If no DTCs are set, go to next step.
- Using scan tool, observe the NOT RAN SINCE CODE CLEARED display. Determine which of the DTCs required for a YES status has not run. Enter DTC in Specific DTC menu on scan tool. Operate vehicle within the ENABLE CRITERIA . Repeat procedure until scan tool indicates the diagnostic test has run. Repeat this step for any additional required DTCs that have not run. Using scan tool, observe I/M System Status display. If status updates to YES, go next step. If status does not update to YES, see DIAGNOSTIC AIDS .
- Using scan tool, observe emission related DTC portion of I/M System Status display. If scan tool indicates any emission related DTCs, diagnose affected DTCs. See DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE DEFINITIONS . If no DTCs are displayed, system is okay.
CAUTION:
Road test vehicle under safe conditions and while obeying all traffic laws. Do not attempt any maneuvers that could jeopardize vehicle control. Failure to adhere to these precautions could lead to serious personal injury and vehicle damage.
NOTE:
Ensure vehicle is within the ENABLE CRITERIA . Turn off all accessories. Start and operate engine at idle.
NOTE:
Refer to INSPECTION/MAINTENANCE SYSTEM DTC TABLE to determine which DTCs are required to run in order to complete this test.
