Test B: Driver Door Power Window Inoperative
NOTE:
Reviewing system description and operation information will help determine if condition described by customer is normal operation, and may help determine correct symptom diagnostic procedure when a malfunction exists.
- If power window system description and operation has been reviewed, go to next step. If description and operation has not been reviewed, see POWER WINDOW SYSTEM under DESCRIPTION & OPERATION. After power window system description and operation has been reviewed, go to next step.
- Attempt to operate driver door power window. If driver door power window does not operate properly, go to next step. If driver door power window operates properly, go to DIAGNOSING INTERMITTENTS .
- Remove driver door trim panel. See DOOR TRIM PANEL under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Disconnect driver window regulator motor harness connector. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Connect a test light between ground and driver window regulator motor harness connector terminal "B" (Dark Blue wire). Activate master switch to up position. If test light illuminates, go to next step. If test light does not illuminate, go to step 5 .
- Connect test light between driver window regulator motor harness connector terminal "B" (Dark Blue wire) and terminal "A" (Brown wire). Activate master switch to down position. If test light illuminates, go to step 7 . If test light does not illuminate, go to step 6 .
- Check for open in Dark Blue wire between driver window regulator motor harness connector terminal "B" and 7-pin master switch harness connector C1 terminal "E". See WIRING DIAGRAMS . Repair as necessary. After repair, go to step 11 . If no problem is found, go to step 8 .
- Check for open in Brown wire between driver window regulator motor harness connector terminal "A" and 7-pin master switch harness connector C1 terminal "D". See WIRING DIAGRAMS . Repair as necessary. After repair, go to step 11 . If no problem is found, go to step 8 .
- Check for poor connections at driver window regulator motor harness connector. Repair as necessary. After repair, go to step 11 . If no problem is found, go to step 9 .
- Check for poor connections at master switch harness connectors. Repair as necessary. After repair, go to step 11 . If no problem is found, go to step 10 .
- Replace driver window regulator motor. See WINDOW MOTOR under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repair, go to step 11 .
- Replace master switch. See WINDOW SWITCH under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repair, go to next step.
- Operate system to verify repairs. If system does not operate properly, go to step 2 . If system operates properly, system is okay.
NOTE:
Driver door window switch may be referred to as left front window switch, master window switch or master switch.
