Door System Diagnostic System Check

  1. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). DLC is located below left side of instrument panel, to right of steering column. See Figure . Turn ignition switch to RUN position. If scan tool powers up, go to next step. If scan tool does not power up, go to TEST G: SCAN TOOL DOES NOT POWER UP under SYSTEM TESTS in BODY CONTROL MODULES - INTRIGUE article.
  2. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Attempt to establish scan tool communication with Body Control Module (BCM). If communication with BCM is established, go to next step. If communication with BCM is not established, go to TEST F: SCAN TOOL DOES NOT COMMUNICATE WITH CLASS 2 DEVICE under SYSTEM TESTS in BODY CONTROL MODULES - INTRIGUE article.
    3. CAUTION: Engine may start during this step. Turn engine off as soon as crank power mode is observed.
  3. Using scan tool, select CLASS 2 POWER MODE in DIAGNOSTIC CIRCUIT CHECK. Rotate ignition switch through all positions while observing IGNITION SWITCH POWER MODE parameter. If ignition switch parameter reading matches actual ignition switch position for all switch positions, go to next step. If ignition switch parameter reading does not match actual ignition switch position for all switch positions, go to TEST B: POWER MODE MISMATCH under SYSTEM TESTS in BODY CONTROL MODULES - INTRIGUE article.
  4. Select DISPLAY DTCS function for BCM and PCM. Record all displayed DTCs and status of displayed DTCs. If any DTCs are displayed, go to next step. If no DTCs are displayed, repair by symptom. See SYMPTOM INDEX  table under SYSTEM TESTS.
  5. If scan tool does not display any DTCs that begin with "U", go to next step. If scan tool displays any DTCs that begin with "U", go to TEST F: SCAN TOOL DOES NOT COMMUNICATE WITH CLASS 2 DEVICE under SYSTEM TESTS in BODY CONTROL MODULES - INTRIGUE article.
  6. If scan tool does not display DTCs B1000, B1013 or B1422, go to next step. If scan tool displays DTCs B1000, B1013 or B1422, perform appropriate test. See BODY CONTROL MODULES - INTRIGUE article.
  7. If scan tool displays any DTCs that begin with "P", see appropriate SELF-DIAGNOSTICS article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE. If scan tool does not display any DTCs that begin with "P", repair by symptom. See SYMPTOM INDEX  table under SYSTEM TESTS.
