Installation Procedure

  1. Install the negative battery cable into the wiring harness conduit.
  2. Install the battery cable harness to the vehicle.
  3. Install the battery cable harness to the retainers.

  4. Install the battery ground cable to the transaxle stud.
    NOTE: Refer to FASTENER NOTICE in Cautions and Notices.
  5. Install the transaxle stud nut.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the nut to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).

  6. Install the generator output BAT terminal wire to the generator.
  7. Install the generator output BAT terminal nut.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the nut to 20 N.m (15 lb ft).

  8. Install the protective boot to the generator output BAT terminal.

  9. Install the BAT terminal wiring harness connector (3) to the solenoid BAT terminal.
  10. Install the BAT terminal nut (4) to the starter solenoid BAT terminal.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the nut to 10 N.m (89 lb in).

  11. Install the front lower air deflector. Refer to RADIATOR AIR BAFFLE AND DEFLECTOR REPLACEMENT in Engine Cooling.
  12. Lower the vehicle.
  13. Install the positive battery cable harness to the BEC.
  14. Install the BEC to the strut tower.

  15. Install the positive battery cable to the BEC.
  16. Install the junction block lead nut to the positive battery cable.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the nut to 10 N.m (89 lb in).

  17. Install the remote positive stud cover.

  18. Install the ground wire and the bolt to the frame.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the bolt to 10 N.m (89 lb in).

  19. Connect the positive battery cable.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the bolt to 15 N.m (11 lb ft).

  20. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnect/Connect Procedure .
