Removal & Installation: Starter: Installation

NOTE: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. DO NOT use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
  1. Install the starter motor. See Figure .
  2. Install the starter motor bolts. Tighten the bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
  3. Install the torque converter covers. Install the torque converter cover bolts. Tighten the bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
  4. Install the BAT terminal wiring harness connector to the starter solenoid BAT terminal. See Figure . Install the BAT terminal nut. Tighten the nut to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
  5. Install the "S" terminal wiring harness connector to the starter solenoid "S" terminal. Install the "S" terminal nut. Tighten the nut to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
  6. Install the front lower air deflector. Install the radiator lower air deflector mounting bolts. Tighten the bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
  7. Lower the vehicle. Connect the negative battery cable. Tighten to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
