Diagnostic Procedures

  1. Perform DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK - ENGINE CONTROLS  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. If DTC or driveability concern was repaired using powertrain diagnostic system check, go to step  3. If no DTC or driveability concern was repaired using powertrain diagnostic system check, go to next step.
  2. Check for applicable Technical Service Bulletins (TSB) for software updates that may prevent Inspection/Maintenance (I/M) readiness. Perform any reprogramming or repairs indicated by TSBs. If reprogramming or repair service was required, go to INSPECTION/MAINTENANCE COMPLETE SYSTEM SET PROCEDURE . If reprogramming or repair service was not required, go to next step.
  3. Using scan tool, observe I/M system status display. If more than one test indicates a NO status, go to INSPECTION/MAINTENANCE COMPLETE SYSTEM SET PROCEDURE . If only one test indicates a NO status, perform appropriate I/M system set procedure for indicated system.
