Installation Procedure

  1. Position the power steering pressure line to the vehicle.
  2. Install the power steering pressure line to the retaining clip on the power steering gear.
  3. Install the power steering pressure line to the power steering pressure line retaining bracket on the frame.
    NOTE: Refer to FASTENER NOTICE in Cautions and Notices.
  4. Install the power steering pressure line fitting to the power steering gear.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the fitting to the power steering gear to 27 N.m (20 lb ft).

  5. Lower the vehicle.
  6. Install the power steering pressure line to the retaining clip on the engine.
  7. Install the electrical connector to the power steering pressure switch on the power steering pressure line.
  8. Install the power steering pressure line to the power steering pump.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the fitting to the power steering pump to 27 N.m (20 lb ft).

  9. Fill the power steering system with power steering fluid. Checking and Adding Power Steering Fluid .
  10. Bleed the power steering system. Refer to Bleeding the Power Steering System .

  11. Inspect the power steering system for leaks. Checking and Adding Power Steering Fluid .
  12. Install the coolant surge tank. Refer to SURGE TANK REPLACEMENT in Engine Cooling.
