Removal & Installation: Generator: Installation

  1. Position generator to engine.
  2. Connect electrical connector to generator. See Figure.
  3. Connect battery positive lead and install generator output BAT terminal nut. Tighten generator output BAT terminal nut to 15 ft. lbs. (20 N.m).
  4. Press protective boot on to generator output BAT terminal.
  5. Install outboard generator bolt into generator housing. See Figure.
  6. Install generator on inboard generator bolt and finger tighten outboard bolt.
  7. Install idler pulley and idler pulley bolt.
  8. Tighten bolts in order described. The following is a mandatory torque sequence:
    • Tighten idler pulley bolt to 37 ft. lbs. (50 N.m).
    • Tighten generator bolts to 37 ft. lbs. (50 N.m).
  9. Install thermostat housing and radiator hose.
  10. Install engine cooling fan assembly.
  11. Install battery tray.
  12. Install drive belt.
  13. Connect battery negative cable.
