Testing & Diagnosis: Self-Diagnosis: Notes

1. Turn ignition switch to "OFF" position. Connect a voltmeter to diagnostic connector located under battery. Turn ignition switch to "ON" position, and indication of ECU memory will start. If system is in normal condition, pointer of check meter constantly indicates 12 volts.
2. If there is any abnormality in the memory, the pointer of voltmeter will deflect. The number of deflections indicates problem listed in chart. Check and repair each abnormal item listed. Turn ignition switch to "OFF" position. After repairing defective parts, disconnect battery ground cable for 15 seconds or more to erase ECU memory.
