The Coolant Vacuum Switch (CVS) is mounted in the thermostat housing. This switch prevents vacuum from being supplied to the EGR system or other systems after a cold start until coolant temperature reaches a certain value. After the coolant temperature reaches this value, the valve opens, allowing vacuum to operate the EGR valve.
