Courtesy Lights Totally Inoperative

NOTE: After making any repairs, perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS. Unless instructed otherwise in test step, reconnect any disconnected connectors.
  1. Remove dome light lens. Remove and inspect dome light bulb. Replace bulb if necessary. Open any door. Using a voltmeter, check voltage on dome light connector fused B+ circuit (Pink wire). If voltage is more than 10 volts, reinstall dome light bulb and go to next step. If voltage is 10 volts or less, repair open Pink wire.
  2. Disconnect instrument cluster connector. Instrument cluster connector is a 26-pin Black connector, located behind left upper instrument panel. Connect a jumper wire between ground and instrument cluster connector terminal No. 3, courtesy light control circuit (Yellow wire). See Figure. If dome light illuminates, replace instrument cluster. See ANALOG INSTRUMENT PANELS - NEON article. If dome light does not illuminate, leave jumper wire connected, instrument panel connector disconnected and go to next step.
  3. Remove dome light lens. Remove dome light bulb. Using an ohmmeter, check resistance between ground and dome light connector courtesy light control circuit (Yellow wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, test is complete. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open Yellow wire.
