RKE Transmitter Inoperative
NOTE:
After making any repairs, perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS. Unless instructed otherwise in test step, reconnect any disconnected connectors.
- Using a voltmeter, check voltage across both Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) transmitter batteries. If voltage is 3 volts or more on both batteries, go to next step. If voltage is less than 3 volts on either battery, replace batteries as needed.
- Turn ignition off. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). DLC is located on bottom of instrument panel, to left of brake pedal. See Figure. Go to next step.
- Program RKE module. See REMOTE KEYLESS ENTRY (RKE) MODULE under programming. Using RKE transmitter, operate door locks. If door locks operate properly, test is complete. If door locks do not operate properly, go to next step.
- Substitute a known-good RKE transmitter. Program substitute RKE transmitter. See REMOTE KEYLESS ENTRY (RKE) TRANSMITTER under PROGRAMMING. Using substitute RKE transmitter, operate door locks. If door locks operate properly, replace original transmitter. Program all transmitters to be used on this vehicle. If door locks do not operate properly, replace RKE module. See REMOTE KEYLESS ENTRY (RKE) MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
