Checking Power & Ground
NOTE:
Driver's window switch has 2 connectors. Gray connector is for operation of passenger's window and Black connector is for operation of driver's window. Ground circuits for passenger's window switch runs through driver's window switch.
- Remove inoperative window switch. Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between ground and terminal No. 4 (Tan wire) at appropriate switch harness connector. See Figure . If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, check 30-amp circuit breaker behind fuse block. Check for open or short in wiring. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
- Turn ignition off. Check continuity between ground and terminals No. 7 (Black/Yellow wire), No. 2 (Black/Violet wire at both driver's window switch connectors; Violet/White wire at passenger's window switch connector) and No. 3 (Black/Violet wire at both driver's window switch connectors; Brown/White wire at passenger's window switch connector) at appropriate switch harness connector. If continuity exists, check power window switch. See POWER WINDOW SWITCH under COMPONENT TESTS. If continuity does not exist, repair open in appropriate wire. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
