Power Window Switch

Power windows are controlled by two-way switches integral to power door lock/window switch and bezel on trim panel of each door. Driver door power window switch has an Auto-Down feature. The switch is equipped with two detent positions when actuating power window OPEN. The first detent position allows window to roll down and stop when switch is released. The second detent position actuates and integral express roll down relay that rolls window down after switch is released. The Auto-Down feature can be cancelled by actuating switch UP or DOWN while window is in motion.

A second power window switch in driver side switch and bezel allows driver to control passenger side window. A Light Emitting Diode (LED) in paddle of each switch is illuminated whenever ignition switch is in ON position. The power window switches control ignition and ground feeds to power window motors. The power door lock/window switch and bezel cannot be repaired and, if faulty for damaged, entire switch and bezel must be replaced.

The power window system is supplied power from the 20-amp circuit breaker located in the fuse block. Power for the circuit breaker is supplied on circuit A31 from the ignition switch. This circuit is HOT when the ignition switch is in the ACCESSORY or RUN position. Circuit F21 connects, from the circuit breaker, to both window switches. This is the feed for the switches. Both switches use a BUS bar to provide power for the different functions of the switch. The ground path for the system is through master window switch n the Z1 circuit. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  .
