Body Control Modules: Description
The body control computer system consists of a combination of modules that communicate over the Programmable Communication Interface (PCI) bus circuit. Through the PCI bus circuit (Violet/Yellow wire), information related to the operation of vehicle components and circuits is relayed to the appropriate system module(s). This reduces the complexity of vehicle wiring and size of wiring harness.
Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC) are accessed through a 16-pin Data Link Connector (DLC) using Chrysler's Diagnostic Readout Box (DRBIII(R)) scan tool or generic scan tool.
The following modules are connected to the DLC via the PCI bus circuit.
- Occupant Restraint Controller (ORC)
- Left Side Impact Air Bag Control Module (SIACM), If Equipped
- Right Side Impact Air Bag Control Module (SIACM), If Equipped
- Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) Controller Anti-Lock Brake (CAB) Module
- Electro-Mechanical Instrument Cluster (EMIC) Module
- Powertrain Control Module (PCM)
- Radio
- CD Changer
- Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) Module
- Sentry Key Immobilizer Module (SKIM)
