Open Driver's Door Fails To Trip Alarm

NOTE: After making any repairs, perform VTSS VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
  1. Disconnect driver's door ajar switch connector. Using a test light connected to battery voltage, probe ajar switch harness connector terminal No. 2, ground circuit (Black/Yellow wire). If test light illuminates, go to next step. If test light does not illuminate, repair open on Black/Yellow wire.
  2. Connect a jumper wire between ajar switch harness connector terminals No. 1, driver's door ajar sense circuit (Tan/Black wire) and No. 2, ground circuit (Black/Yellow wire). Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). DLC is located on bottom of instrument panel, to left of brake pedal. See Figure . Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, select BODY, ELECTRO/MECH CLUSTER, then INPUT/OUTPUT. Read DR DOOR AJAR SW state. If scan tool displays DR DOOR AJAR SW: OPEN, go to next step. If scan tool displays DR DOOR AJAR SW: CLOSED, replace driver's door ajar switch.
  3. Turn ignition off. Disconnect Black 26-pin Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) module connector, located under center of instrument panel top cover. See Figure . Using ohmmeter, check resistance of driver's door ajar switch sense circuit (Tan wire) between driver's door ajar switch connector and RKE module connector terminal No. 25. See Figure . If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace RKE module. See REMOTE KEYLESS ENTRY MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open on Tan wire.
