Throttle Body Assembly

Removal

1) Release fuel pressure. See FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE RELEASE under FUEL SYSTEM in this article. Remove connectors from IACV, TPS and fuel injector. Remove grommet and wiring from fuel meter assembly.

2) Remove throttle linkage, return spring(s), transmission control cable, and cruise control cable (if applicable). Disconnect vacuum hoses, marking hoses for reassembly reference.

3) Remove inlet and outlet fuel line nuts. Remove throttle body mounting bolts and throttle body assembly from intake manifold.

Installation

1) Install new base gasket and install throttle body assembly. Tighten mounting bolts to 12 ft. lbs. (16 N.m). Using new "O" ring seals, reconnect fuel inlet and outlet nuts and hand tighten. Tighten nuts to 20 ft. lbs. (27 N.m).

2) Reconnect vacuum hoses. Install throttle linkage, and control cables as applicable. Connect wiring to fuel metering components. Ensure accelerator pedal movement is free. With engine off, check full throttle position and return. Turn ignition on and check for fuel leaks. Start engine and recheck for fuel and vacuum leaks.
