Clearing Codes
Hard and intermittent failure codes remain in ECM memory until battery voltage is removed from ECM. Removing battery voltage from ECM for 30 seconds will clear all stored memory codes. Clear codes from memory after completing a repair. Some diagnostic flowcharts require clearing a code during test. Battery voltage may be removed from ECM by disconnecting battery, ECM harness connector, or fuse No. 10 (10 amps).
NOTE:
Ensure ignition switch is in OFF position when disconnecting or reconnecting battery power to ECM. When battery power is disconnected from ECM to clear codes, computer memory will be erased. A change in vehicle performance and driveability may be noted while ECM recalibrates for current driving conditions.
